Editorial Policy
This page explains how guides on First Layer Lab are made and who is responsible for them.
Who is responsible
Every guide is edited and published by Arif Can Şahin, who runs the site. He decides what gets covered, checks each guide before it goes live and handles corrections.
How guides are researched
- Primary sources first. Temperatures, speeds, dimensions, material properties and safety information come from manufacturer documentation, technical data sheets (TDS), safety data sheets (SDS), slicer documentation and published research.
- Prices and specs are dated. Printer and filament prices change often. We check them against the manufacturer’s own store when a guide is written or updated, note sale prices against the regular price and show the update date at the top of the article.
- Estimates are labeled. When a number is a calculation or an estimate (for example the cost of a print), the guide says so and shows how it was worked out.
- Sources are listed. Each guide ends with the sources it relies on.
What we do not do
- We do not present guides as hands-on reviews. When a claim comes from a manufacturer rather than our own use, the guide says so.
- We do not accept payment for coverage or rankings. The site is funded by advertising; any sponsored content would be clearly labeled. See our advertising disclosure.
Updates and corrections
Guides are reviewed when printers, firmware, prices or slicer features change, and the “Updated” date at the top of each article shows the latest review. If you find an error, contact us and we will check it against the sources and fix it.
